Ice Loss Record Recorded in August for the Arctic

The National Snow and Ice Data Center is reporting that the arctic ice receded at the fastest rate ever recorded for August. Generally the rate of ice loss begins to slow down in August, as this begins the cooling period. This year that did not occur and the daily decline rate of ice stayed at an unusually high rate.

The Glass Ceiling Shall Shatter

The glass ceiling that has been referred to for so long has all but shattered it seems, at least in politics. On one side we have Obama, a black man from chicago, on the other with McCain we have Palin, a woman from Alaska. Under any but the most extreme scenario, one or the other will make history. Now, I don't support either parties candidate, but I do wonder if the fact that a black man can be president, would alleve at least to some degree a bit of the racial hostility in this country, or if a woman rising to vice president, and another almost getting the nomination, and at the same time Pelosi is the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, would alleve a bit of the sexist stereotypes, and perceptions.
